While reading with your child at home, stop periodically and have your child retell the biggest events from the beginning, middle, and end of what was just read. We will also have our Building a Reading Life Part 2 Test on Wednesday, October 2nd. Please review the review sheet sent home last week. On Friday, we will celebrate the end of the week by having a "Fun Friday Read-In"! Your child may come to school with a blanket and a flashlight to make reading even more exciting! Writing: This week, we are wrapping up our Personal Narrative writing unit. We will make last minute revisions to our stories before settling in to edit and publish our finished pieces. Finally, we plan on ending the week by celebrating our hard work Word Study: Our week in Word Study will consist of a review of closed syllables and open syllables. We will also have a Word Study Assessment at the end of the week. Grammar and Conventions: This week, we will review verb tenses, subject and predicate, and using an editing checklist before taking our Grammar and Conventions Assessment at the end of the week.
